Our Roots
Stand-Up Westchester was founded by comedian and local resident Ben Asher, who realized that the best comedy talent in the world was just a train ride away, but rarely performed north of the city. He set out to change that.
Launched as "Comedy From Scratch" in 2017, the show was built with one goal: to create a perfect night out. That means booking comedians who are actively touring, headlining clubs, and appearing on late-night TV and streaming specials. We don't settle for local open-mics; we deliver the high-quality, professional stand-up you'd expect in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
Our permanent home is The Idea Kitchen in Larchmont, a cozy, intimate space that makes every audience member feel like they're part of an exclusive show. It’s the perfect setting for comedy—close, dark, and filled with great energy. Plus, our signature BYOB policy ensures you have exactly what you want with no price markups or forced minimums.
Meet the Founder: Ben Asher
Ben Asher is a New York-based comedian and podcast host who has produced countless stand-up shows, including the legendary "Stand-Up on the Spot" at The Comedy Store in LA and his own New York City shows. He has appeared on *The Late Late Show with James Corden* and numerous comedy festivals across the country.
As the founder of Stand-Up Westchester and the host of *Comedy From Scratch*, Ben ensures every lineup is curated for maximum laughs. His mission is to bring the caliber of comedy he knows from the city to the Westchester community he loves.
